THOMAS JEFFERSON HIGH SCHOOL, San Antonio Independent
School District, San Antonio, Texas. C.F.Z Group was commissioned to
renovate the grounds of one of the oldest high schools in San Antonio.
The project consisted of re-establishing the magnolia allee main
entrance, renovation of the school's streetscape and campus courtyards.
CoFoZ Group also developed landscapes for building expansions and
landscape updates as required to the City of San Antonio's new
landscaping ordinances. Site irrigation was also designed to reduce
maintenance and maintain a lush environment.

Professional Services Provided: Landscape Architecture Project
Description:The project encompassed the complete replacement of the
existing high school in multiple phases and was maintained in
operation during the school year. Responsibilities included an
inventory of the condition and treatment of the 224 existing trees of
the campus, relocation of 7 trees up to 15" caliper and site landscaping.
Approximately 5 acres of automatic irrigation and 4 acres of manual
irrigation was installed. This included campus irrigation as well as
football, baseball and soccer fields. Landscape design included low
maintenance xeriscape principles and meeting City of San Antonio
Landscape Ordinances.
SANDRA DAY O’CONNOR HIGH SCHOOL
Northside Independent School District
This is the first major high school in Helotes, Texas. The school, sited on
80 acres, was designed around the theme of a “village square” and
“village green.” Scope of work included the development of the
courtyard paving pattern while preserving existing trees, landscape
design and the extensive irrigation system. Elements of the campus
development include classrooms, auditorium, cafeteria, animal
husbandry, and sports facilities. Construction drawings were developed
to include hardscape layout and details, landscape planting plans and
irrigation plans for the full campus.
UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS SAN ANTONIO "DOWNTOWN" CAMPUS,Durango
Building and Parking Garage, San Antonio, Texas. As the
Director of Landscape Architecture with the firm of Ford, Powell
& Carson, Inc. Mr. Coltrane assisted in campus enhancements for
the campus. Enhancements included construction of a new
academic building, a quadrangle and parking garage. Scope of
services included hardscape development, landscape planting and
irrigation design. Development highlights included foundation
plantings to support the building' hardscape, a centralized brick
paved quadrangle for outdoor gatherings surrounded by red oaks and
drystack limestone walls and landscaping of flowering trees and
ground covers to blend the parking garage with the surrounding
infrastructure. |
